Who are you? What do you do in the industry?

I go by DJ Banned. I’m most known as a SoundCloud host and show DJ, and I just got into management this year too.

What advice do you have for upcoming artists trying to break into the industry?

You really have to love music and be willing to spend years and invest in yourself. If you’re only doing it half-heartedly, then someone out there is working harder than you. Create as much as you can and invest in promotion, artwork, and production. Music is a marathon, dont expect success overnight

What’s the biggest turning point in your career trajectory?

When I left Canada and started traveling to network and meet people I worked with. Also when I started doing shows. Some of the people I’ve met traveling have given me some of my biggest songs to date.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

Don’t be afraid to take risks. Sometimes I’ve had an opportunity and risked going broke overtaking it, like flying somewhere last minute for a show or just to meet someone to lock in.
